Lavender Lemonade Fizz: A Refreshing, Floral Twist
#Lavender Lemonade Fizz
Equipment
- Equipment needed: Small saucepan, strainer, cocktail shaker, muddler, measuring jigger, and serving glasses (like champagne flutes or tall glasses)
Ingredients
- Ingredients:
- For Lavender Simple Syrup:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon dried culinary lavender flowers you can find these online or at specialty food stores
- For the Cocktail:
- 1 oz lavender simple syrup
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 oz club soda or sparkling water for the fizz
- 1 oz gin optional for an alcoholic version, or use non-alcoholic gin for a booze-free option
- Ice cubes
- Fresh lavender sprigs or lemon slices for garnish
Instructions
- Method:
- Step 1: Make the Lavender Simple Syrup
- Boil the water: In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
- Add lavender: Once the sugar dissolves, stir in the dried lavender flowers. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture steep for 10 minutes, allowing the floral flavors to infuse into the syrup.
- Strain and cool: After steeping, strain the syrup into a jar or bowl to remove the lavender flowers. Let it cool to room temperature.
- Step 2: Prepare the Cocktail
- Muddle the lemon: In your cocktail shaker, muddle 1 oz of freshly squeezed lemon juice with 1 oz of the lavender syrup to release the citrus oils and combine the flavors.
- Add ice: Fill the shaker with ice cubes, and if you’re making the alcoholic version, add 1 oz of gin. Shake until the mixture is well-chilled (about 15-20 seconds).
- Strain and pour: Strain the mixture into your serving glasses.
- Add fizz: Top each glass with 2 oz of club soda or sparkling water for that effervescent fizz.
- Garnish: Garnish with a sprig of fresh lavender or a lemon slice for a beautiful, aromatic touch.
- Variations:
- Non-alcoholic version: Skip the gin entirely or replace it with non-alcoholic gin to keep all the flavor without the booze.
- Lavender Honey Syrup: For a more natural sweetener, you can swap out the sugar in the simple syrup with honey, which adds a richer flavor.
- Herbal twist: Add a few fresh mint leaves when muddling the lemon for a minty twist.
- Vegan-friendly: This recipe is naturally vegan, but be sure to check that your sugar or honey is certified vegan if that’s a priority for you.
