Equipment
- Equipment Needed: Cocktail shaker, jigger (or measuring cup), strainer, ice, glass
Ingredients
- Ingredients
- 2 oz whiskey bourbon or rye
- 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice about half a lemon
- 1/2 oz pure maple syrup adjust to taste
- 1/2 oz rosemary-infused simple syrup see notes below
- Fresh rosemary sprig for garnish
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Rosemary-Infused Simple Syrup
- To make the rosemary-infused syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan (1 cup each works well). Add a few sprigs of fresh rosemary and simmer over low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let it steep for about 30 minutes. Strain out the rosemary, and store the syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a month.
- Step-by-Step Method
- Prep Your Ingredients: Gather all your ingredients and equipment. If you haven’t already made the rosemary-infused simple syrup, you can do that first.
- Mix the Cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz of whiskey, 3/4 oz of fresh lemon juice, 1/2 oz of maple syrup, and 1/2 oz of rosemary-infused simple syrup.
- Shake It Up: Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. You want it to be well chilled and mixed.
- Strain and Serve: Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with ice.
- Garnish: Take a fresh rosemary sprig and lightly smack it between your hands to release its oils. Place it in the glass as a garnish.
- Enjoy: Sip and enjoy your Rosemary Maple Sour!
- Variations
- Herb Variations: Try substituting the rosemary with thyme or basil for a different herbal twist.
- Fruit Additions: Muddle some blackberries or raspberries in the shaker for a fruity version.
- Non-Alcoholic Option: Replace the whiskey with a non-alcoholic spirit or soda water for a refreshing mocktail.
