Salsiccia alla Griglia: A Flavorful Italian Delight
Salsiccia alla Griglia
Equipment
- Grill or grill pan, tongs, meat thermometer, and serving platter
Ingredients
- For the Sausage
- 1 pound of Italian sausages mild or spicy, based on your preference
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil optional, for brushing
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for garnish (optional)
- Variations
- Sausage Types: Feel free to use different types of sausages such as chicken turkey, or even plant-based alternatives to cater to dietary preferences.
- Flavor Add-ins: Consider adding minced garlic or crushed red pepper to your sausages for an extra kick.
- Serving Options: Pair with grilled peppers onions, or on a hoagie roll for a delightful sandwich.
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the Grill
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a grill pan, place it on the stovetop over medium-high heat.
- Brush the grill grates with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Step 2: Season the Sausages
- Take your Italian sausages out of the packaging and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Season lightly with salt and pepper. If you're feeling adventurous, you can sprinkle some fresh herbs or garlic powder over them.
- Step 3: Grill the Sausages
- Place the sausages on the grill. If you're using a grill pan, lay them down gently to avoid splatter.
- Cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally with tongs, until they are browned and cooked through. You want an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
- For extra flavor, you can brush them with olive oil while grilling.
- Step 4: Rest and Serve
- Once the sausages are done, remove them from the grill and let them rest for about 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, making the sausages juicy and flavorful.
- Slice the sausages and serve them with your favorite sides or atop grilled bread with peppers and onions. Don’t forget to garnish with fresh herbs for a pop of color!
