Spicy Grapefruit Collins Recipe Guide
#Spicy Grapefruit Collins
Equipment
- Equipment Needed: Shaker, jigger, strainer, glass (highball or Collins glass)
Ingredients
- Ingredients
- 2 oz gin
- 1 oz fresh grapefruit juice
- 0.5 oz simple syrup adjust to taste
- 0.5 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1-2 slices fresh jalapeño or to taste
- Club soda
- Ice
- Grapefruit slice and jalapeño for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Jalapeño: Start by slicing the jalapeño. If you prefer less heat, remove the seeds and membrane before slicing. Adjust the amount according to your spice tolerance.
- Mix Ingredients: In a shaker, combine the gin, fresh grapefruit juice, simple syrup, lemon juice, and jalapeño slices. If you're using a muddler, lightly muddle the jalapeños to release their flavors, but don’t overdo it unless you want a spicier kick!
- Shake It Up: Fill the shaker with ice, then shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to chill and mix the ingredients well.
- Strain: Using a strainer, pour the mixture into a highball or Collins glass filled with ice.
- Top It Off: Fill the glass with club soda to your liking, giving it a gentle stir to combine.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with a slice of grapefruit and a jalapeño slice. Enjoy your refreshing Spicy Grapefruit Collins!
- Variations
- Spicy Grapefruit Fizz: Substitute gin with tequila for a Mexican twist.
- Herbal Version: Add a few fresh mint leaves or basil for a refreshing herbal note.
- Fruit-Forward: Muddle some fresh strawberries or raspberries with the jalapeño for a fruity kick.
