Method:
Prepare the Glass
If you like a salted or sugared rim, run a lime wedge around the edge of your glass. Then dip the rim into salt or sugar until it’s well-coated. Set aside.
Muddle the Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine the fresh blackberries and mint leaves. Using a muddler, gently crush the blackberries and mint to release their juices and aroma. Be careful not to shred the mint leaves too finely.
Add the Liquid Ingredients
Pour in the fresh lime juice, agave syrup, and tequila. You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less agave syrup based on your taste.
Shake It Up
Fill the shaker with ice cubes. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This will chill the mixture and blend the flavors beautifully.
Strain and Serve
Fill two glasses with ice cubes. Use a fine mesh strainer to pour the cocktail mixture over the ice, ensuring no blackberry seeds or mint leaves make it into the glass.
Garnish
Garnish each glass with a few extra blackberries and a sprig of mint. You can also add a lime wheel for an extra pop of color.
Variations:
Frozen Blackberry and Mint Margarita: Blend all ingredients with ice for a slushy version. This is especially refreshing on hot days.
Berry-Infused Version: Substitute blackberries with strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries for a mixed berry margarita.
Spicy Margarita: Add a few slices of jalapeño when muddling for a kick of heat.
