Step-by-Step Instructions
Prepare the Dough
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and eggs.
Mix until a dough forms, then add the softened butter. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
Let It Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Shape the Brioche
Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Divide it into small balls (about the size of a golf ball) and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cover with a kitchen towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
Bake the Brioche
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the brioche balls for about 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
Assemble the Dish
Once the brioche is cool, slice them in half. Place a generous scoop of gelato between the halves.
Drizzle with chocolate sauce or add fresh fruit or nuts for an extra touch.
