Instructions

  • Instructions
  • Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
  • Slice the Cucumber: Thinly slice half a cucumber and set it aside. You’ll use some for the drink and keep a few for garnish.
  • Muddle the Mint: In a shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and cucumber slices. Gently muddle them together using a muddler, just enough to release the mint's aroma and the cucumber's essence about 5-10 seconds.
  • Step 2: Mix the Cocktail
  • Add the Liquids: To the muddled mixture, pour in the bourbon or rye whiskey, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Shake It Up: Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  • Step 3: Serve
  • Prepare Your Glasses: Fill two glasses with crushed ice (you can use a muddler or a rolling pin to crush the ice if you don’t have any).
  • Strain: Strain the mixture from the shaker into each glass over the crushed ice.
  • Garnish: Top with fresh mint sprigs and a couple of cucumber slices for that extra flair.
  • Variations
  • Cucumber Mint Julep Spritzer: Add a splash of club soda for a fizzy twist.
  • Herbal Infusion: Try adding basil or rosemary to the muddle for a unique flavor profile.
  • Low-Calorie Version: Substitute the simple syrup with a low-calorie sweetener like stevia or monk fruit.
