Step-by-Step Guide
Prepare Your Ingredients
Wash the blackberries and mint leaves thoroughly.
Squeeze the juice from fresh limes there’s no beating the fresh citrusy flavor in a mojito.
Measure out the rum, sugar, and ice cubes.
Muddle the Mint and Blackberries
In a glass or cocktail shaker, muddle the mint leaves with the blackberries and sugar. If you don't have a muddler, use the back of a spoon.
You’re aiming to release the flavors from the mint and blackberries, but don’t crush the mint too much, or it’ll turn bitter.
Blend the Mixture
Transfer the muddled mixture to a blender.
Add the lime juice, rum, and ice cubes. Blend on high until smooth and slushy.
Strain (Optional)
If you prefer a smoother texture, strain the mixture through a fine mesh to remove the seeds. If you enjoy the little bits of blackberry, you can skip this step.
Pour and Garnish
Divide the mixture between two glasses.
Top with a splash of club soda for a fizzier drink (optional).
Garnish with fresh mint sprigs and lime wedges.
Variations and Substitutions:
Non-Alcoholic Version: You can make this drink a "mocktail" by swapping the rum for additional club soda or sparkling water.
Keto-Friendly: Replace the sugar with a keto-friendly sweetener like erythritol or stevia.
Honey or Agave Syrup: If you're looking for a more natural sweetener, substitute the sugar with honey or agave syrup for a slightly healthier twist.
Frozen Fruit: If you’re out of fresh blackberries, you can use frozen blackberries (or even raspberries) for a similar effect.
No Blender: If you don’t have a blender, you can muddle the blackberries thoroughly and mix with crushed ice instead.
