Cuisine Italian

Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 450g large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4-6 cloves garlic minced (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional for heat
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • Pasta or crusty bread for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Prep the Shrimp:
  • Start by rinsing the shrimp under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. This step is essential for getting a good sear on the shrimp.
  • Heat the Oil:
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. You want the oil hot enough to sizzle when the shrimp are added.
  • Sauté Garlic:
  • Add the minced garlic to the hot oil, stirring it for about 30 seconds or until fragrant. Be careful not to let it burn, as burnt garlic can make the dish taste bitter.
  • Cook the Shrimp:
  • Place the shrimp in the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  • Add Seasonings:
  • Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Squeeze the lemon juice over the shrimp and stir to combine. Cook for an additional minute to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Finish with Parsley:
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the chopped parsley. This not only adds flavor but also a vibrant color to the dish.
  • Serve:
  • Serve your Gamberetti all'Aglio hot, over a bed of pasta or alongside crusty bread to soak up all the delicious garlic-infused oil.
