Ginger Lime Mojito

Course Drinks
Cuisine American

Equipment

  • Equipment Needed: Muddler, shaker, measuring jigger, and glasses

Ingredients

  • Ingredients
  • For the Ginger Lime Mojito:
  • 2 oz fresh lime juice about 2 limes
  • 1 oz ginger syrup store-bought or homemade
  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • 4 oz soda water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedges and mint sprigs for garnish
  • For Homemade Ginger Syrup optional:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup fresh ginger peeled and sliced

Instructions

  • Method
  • Prepare the Ginger Syrup (if making from scratch)
  • In a saucepan, combine equal parts water and sugar over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced ginger and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  • Once dissolved, reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes to infuse the ginger flavor.
  • Remove from heat and allow it to cool. Strain out the ginger pieces and store the syrup in a sealed container in the fridge.
  • Mix the Mojito
  • Muddle the Mint: In a sturdy glass, add the fresh mint leaves and a splash of soda water. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the mint leaves to release their oils. Don’t overdo it; you want the flavor, not mush!
  • Add Lime Juice and Ginger Syrup: Pour in the fresh lime juice and ginger syrup, stirring gently to combine.
  • Fill with Ice: Add ice cubes to fill the glass halfway.
  • Top with Soda Water: Pour soda water over the ice, filling the glass. Stir gently to mix.
  • Garnish: Add lime wedges and a sprig of mint for a beautiful presentation.
  • Variations
  • Fruity Twist: Add slices of fresh fruit like strawberries, mango, or cucumber for a refreshing spin.
  • Spicy Kick: For those who enjoy heat, add a slice or two of jalapeño when muddling the mint.
  • Non-Alcoholic Version: Simply omit any alcohol and enjoy as a mocktail.
