Method
Infuse Lavender Syrup (Optional but Recommended):
If making homemade lavender syrup, combine equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan. Add a tablespoon of dried lavender flowers.
Heat over medium until sugar dissolves. Let it steep for 5-10 minutes. Strain and let cool.
Juice the Grapefruit:
Squeeze the juice from fresh grapefruits until you have 1 oz. You can use a citrus juicer for ease.
Prepare the Cocktail:
In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of fresh grapefruit juice, ¾ oz of lavender syrup, and ¾ oz of fresh lemon juice.
Add Ice:
Fill the shaker with ice cubes, covering the liquid.
Shake It Up:
Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
Strain and Serve:
Use a strainer to pour the mixture into a coupe or rocks glass filled with ice.
Garnish:
Garnish with a sprig of lavender or a slice of grapefruit for an elegant touch.
Variations
Lavender Infusion: For a stronger lavender flavor, consider infusing your gin with lavender. Simply add dried lavender to your gin and let it sit for a few days before straining.
Sugar Substitute: Use agave syrup or honey instead of lavender syrup for a different sweetness profile.
Non-Alcoholic Version: Replace gin with soda water or tonic for a refreshing mocktail.
