Equipment

  • Equipment Needed:
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Strainer
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Citrus juicer (optional)
  • Glassware (coupe or rocks glass)

Ingredients

  • Ingredients
  • 2 oz gin preferably a floral gin
  • 1 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • ¾ oz lavender syrup store-bought or homemade
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Lavender sprig or grapefruit slice for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Method
  • Infuse Lavender Syrup (Optional but Recommended):
  • If making homemade lavender syrup, combine equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan. Add a tablespoon of dried lavender flowers.
  • Heat over medium until sugar dissolves. Let it steep for 5-10 minutes. Strain and let cool.
  • Juice the Grapefruit:
  • Squeeze the juice from fresh grapefruits until you have 1 oz. You can use a citrus juicer for ease.
  • Prepare the Cocktail:
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of fresh grapefruit juice, ¾ oz of lavender syrup, and ¾ oz of fresh lemon juice.
  • Add Ice:
  • Fill the shaker with ice cubes, covering the liquid.
  • Shake It Up:
  • Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
  • Strain and Serve:
  • Use a strainer to pour the mixture into a coupe or rocks glass filled with ice.
  • Garnish:
  • Garnish with a sprig of lavender or a slice of grapefruit for an elegant touch.
  • Variations
  • Lavender Infusion: For a stronger lavender flavor, consider infusing your gin with lavender. Simply add dried lavender to your gin and let it sit for a few days before straining.
  • Sugar Substitute: Use agave syrup or honey instead of lavender syrup for a different sweetness profile.
  • Non-Alcoholic Version: Replace gin with soda water or tonic for a refreshing mocktail.
