Method
Prepare Your Ingredients:
Gather all your ingredients and equipment. If making your own hibiscus syrup, steep dried hibiscus flowers in boiling water for 10-15 minutes, then strain and mix with equal parts sugar until dissolved.
Mix the Base:
In a shaker, combine vodka (or gin), hibiscus syrup, and fresh lime juice. Add ice to fill the shaker halfway.
Shake It Up:
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. This will chill and combine the ingredients well.
Strain and Serve:
Fill two glasses with ice. Strain the mixture evenly into each glass, filling them about two-thirds full.
Top It Off:
Pour ginger beer over the top of each drink, allowing the bubbles to rise.
Garnish:
Garnish with lime wedges and, if using, dried hibiscus flowers for an elegant touch.
Enjoy:
Stir gently to combine and enjoy your refreshing Hibiscus and Ginger Mule!
Variations
Mocktail Version: Omit the vodka or gin and use additional ginger beer and a splash of soda water for a non-alcoholic drink.
Spicy Kick: Add a few slices of fresh jalapeƱo to the shaker for a spicy twist.
Herbal Infusion: Muddle fresh mint leaves with the hibiscus syrup for a minty flavor.
Fruit-Infused: Add fresh fruit slices like strawberries or peaches to the drink for added flavor and color.
