Equipment

  • Equipment Needed: Cocktail shaker, jigger, strainer, glass, and ice.

Ingredients

  • Ingredients
  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado works well
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice about half a lime
  • 3 oz hibiscus tea brewed and chilled; see notes below for how to make
  • 2 oz grapefruit soda like Jarritos or Fresca
  • Ice cubes
  • Hibiscus flowers dried or fresh, for garnish
  • Lime wheel for garnish

Instructions

  • Instructions
  • Brew the Hibiscus Tea:
  • Start by boiling water and steeping dried hibiscus flowers for about 5-10 minutes. Aim for a strong flavor since this will be the base of your cocktail. Strain the flowers out and let the tea cool. You can also use store-bought hibiscus tea bags for convenience.
  • Mix the Ingredients:
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, fresh lime juice, and chilled hibiscus tea. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until it’s nice and cold (about 15 seconds).
  • Pour and Top:
  • Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with ice. Top with grapefruit soda, gently stirring to combine.
  • Garnish:
  • Finish your Hibiscus Paloma with a lime wheel and a few hibiscus flowers for a touch of elegance.
  • Enjoy!
  • Sip and enjoy the floral, refreshing taste of your Hibiscus Paloma!
  • Variations
  • Make It Sweeter: If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, add a splash of agave syrup or simple syrup to taste.
  • Fruit-Forward Twist: Add muddled fruits like strawberries or oranges for a fruity flavor boost.
  • Mocktail Version: Replace the tequila with sparkling water and increase the amount of hibiscus tea for a refreshing non-alcoholic version.
