Step-by-Step Instructions
Prepare the Honey Syrup
In a small bowl, mix equal parts honey and hot water.
Stir until the honey is fully dissolved.
Let it cool down for a couple of minutes.
Set aside.
Make the Ginger Juice
If you have fresh ginger, peel and grate a small piece.
Muddle it in a shaker or crush it with a spoon to extract the juice.
If you don’t want to use fresh ginger, you can substitute with store-bought ginger juice.
Combine the Ingredients
In your cocktail shaker, add ice cubes.
Pour in 2 oz of vodka (or gin if you want to add a different flavor twist).
Add 1 oz of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Pour in the cooled honey syrup.
Finally, add the ginger juice (or muddled fresh ginger).
Shake it Up
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds. You want the ingredients to combine well and chill the drink.
Strain and Serve
Using a strainer, pour the mixture into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish with a thin slice of ginger or a lemon twist for an elegant finish.
Variations and Substitutions
Vodka Substitute: You can use gin for a more botanical taste, or even white rum for a tropical twist.
Honey Substitute: For vegans, you can swap honey with agave syrup or maple syrup, which also adds a distinct flavor.
Alcohol-Free Version: To make this a mocktail, simply replace the vodka with sparkling water or ginger ale.
Dietary Substitutions: If you’re watching sugar intake, try using a sugar-free honey alternative or skip the honey syrup entirely for a sharper taste.
