How to Make a Brownie Fondant Cake

Making a BFC might seem daunting, but it's actually quite straightforward. Here’s a basic guide to get you started:

  • 1 cup of unsalted butter
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • For the fondant layer:
  • 1 package of marshmallows
  • 4 cups of powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • Food coloring optional

  • Prepare the Brownie Layer:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  • Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Add this to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes. Let it cool completely.
  • Make the Fondant:
  • Melt the marshmallows and water in a microwave-safe bowl. Stir every 30 seconds until melted.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough until smooth. Add food coloring if desired.
  • Assemble the BFC:
  • Roll out the fondant to about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Carefully place the fondant over the cooled brownie, smoothing it out with your hands.
  • Trim any excess fondant and decorate as desired.
