Pomegranate Mint Fizz

Course Drinks
Cuisine American

Equipment

  • Equipment Needed: Muddler, cocktail shaker, jigger, glassware (highball or cocktail glasses), strainer

Ingredients

  • Ingredients
  • For the Cocktail:
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice fresh or bottled, ideally 100% juice
  • 1/2 cup club soda or sparkling water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves plus extra for garnish
  • 1-2 tablespoons simple syrup adjust based on sweetness preference
  • Juice of 1/2 lime about 1 tablespoon
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional Garnish:
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Lime wedges
  • Fresh mint sprigs

Instructions

  • Method
  • Step 1: Muddle the Mint
  • In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and the simple syrup. Use a muddler to gently press the mint leaves against the bottom of the shaker. This releases the mint's oils, creating a fragrant base for your cocktail. Don’t over-muddle; you just want to bruise the leaves, not shred them.
  • Step 2: Add the Juice
  • Next, pour in the pomegranate juice and the lime juice. The lime juice adds a nice acidity that balances the sweetness of the pomegranate and syrup.
  • Step 3: Shake It Up
  • Fill the shaker with ice cubes and secure the lid. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This helps to chill the mixture and combine the flavors.
  • Step 4: Strain and Serve
  • Strain the mixture into highball or cocktail glasses filled with ice. Top each glass with club soda or sparkling water for that fizzy finish. Give it a gentle stir to combine.
  • Step 5: Garnish and Enjoy
  • Garnish with additional mint leaves, pomegranate seeds, and a lime wedge if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing flavors.
  • Variations
  • Sparkling Wine Version: Replace the club soda with sparkling wine for a more festive twist.
  • Non-Alcoholic Option: Omit the alcohol (if you’ve added any) and just enjoy the fizzy mocktail.
  • Fruit Variants: Experiment with other juices like cranberry or orange for a unique flavor profile.
