Instructions
Step 1: Make the Rosemary Syrup
Combine Ingredients: In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and rosemary sprigs.
Heat: Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
Steep: Remove from heat and let the mixture steep for about 30 minutes. Once cooled, strain out the rosemary and store the syrup in the refrigerator. This syrup can last for about two weeks.
Step 2: Prepare the Cocktail
Mix the Ingredients: In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin, fresh orange juice, and rosemary syrup.
Add Ice: Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
Shake: Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
Strain: Strain the mixture into a glass filled with fresh ice.
Step 3: Finish with Club Soda
Top Off: Pour club soda over the top of the mixture to your taste, usually about 2-3 oz.
Garnish: Add fresh rosemary sprigs and a slice of orange for a beautiful presentation.
Variations
Herbal Twist: Try adding a few sprigs of fresh mint along with the rosemary for a different herbal flavor.
Fruit Fusion: Substitute the orange juice with grapefruit or lemon juice for a tangy twist.
Mocktail Version: Replace the gin with a splash of tonic water and increase the orange juice for a refreshing non-alcoholic drink.
