Method
Prepare the Watermelon:
Start by cutting the watermelon into cubes. If you’re using a whole watermelon, cut it in half, scoop out the flesh, and remove any seeds.
Blend the Watermelon:
In a blender, combine the watermelon cubes, lime juice, agave syrup (or honey), and jalapeño slices. Blend until smooth. If you prefer a smoother drink, you can strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove pulp, but I love the texture!
Chill the Mixture:
Transfer the watermelon mixture to a pitcher and let it chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes. This will enhance the flavors and keep your drink cool.
Prepare the Glasses:
If you’re adding a spicy salt rim, mix the salt, chili powder, and lime zest on a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip it into the spice mix to coat.
Serve:
Fill each glass with ice. Pour the chilled watermelon mixture over the ice. If desired, add tequila or vodka for an adult twist. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a slice of jalapeño for an extra kick.
Variations
Non-Alcoholic Version: Omit the alcohol and add sparkling water for a fizzy, refreshing drink.
Fruity Twist: Substitute watermelon with strawberries or peaches for a different flavor profile.
Herbal Note: Add basil instead of mint for a unique herbal flavor.
